Find a New Best Friend

We update the list of available dogs as adoptions occur and as new dogs arrive, so please keep checking for the latest information.  All dogs listed below are still available unless otherwise noted.  If you would like to adopt from CCLRR, please go to the Adopt page to read about our adoption process. All dogs are tested prior to entering our program, however you will want to introduce your dog before adopting. Shelters do not test with cats and not all foster homes have cats so if a bio does not specifically say "Cat Friendly," we do not know and a proper introduction is recommended. Please check our Courtesy Postings as well!

Available

Bluey - Black Male - 8 Weeks
Hummingbird - Black Female - 8 Weeks

Puppies

We have two adorable pups still available for adoption. These are the sweetest little black Lab mixes. We have no idea on the mix, they are on the smaller side and cute as can be. They will be approximately 8 weeks old 1/25/25. We are seeking homes where someone is home most of the day as young puppies need guidance and bonding throughout the day to turn in to good adult dogs.  Call or Text Cathy 925-303-0509

Lefty - Black Male - 9 Months

Puppy

This drop-dead gorgeous hunk is a diamond in the ruff. At approximately 9 months and 80 pounds of puppy love, Lefty is a true gem. He is very sweet, loving, and silly. Takes treats very gently and is a gentleman when waiting to be fed. Lefty has decent house manners and has not gotten into anything inappropriate and is housebroken. He Gets along well with dogs of various sizes and genders. He has not shown any aggressive or possessive behavior regarding toys or food. He is not outwardly aggressive towards cats but may chase them and with training could likely be taught to ignore them. He has done well in the car with a bit of coaxing to get in or out. He would do best with someone home more than not as he does cry a bit when left alone. He would be happy as your foot rest or your lap warmer. He is currently sleeping in a crate. Lefty likes to be with his people during the day. He loves to spend time outside for opportunities for puppy zoomies and to run and play. Lefty knows very few basic obedience commands but is working hard in his current foster home learning more. It will be important for his adopter to commit to continued training so this boy will shine and succeed at becoming a treasured member of the family. Lefty is pretty calm and well-mannered most of the time, but does have puppy exuberance and energy and with consistency and direction will thrive to be a dream dog. If you feel this dreamboat is the right match for you, contact Brenda, 916.599.4512 or Kbkjones@aol.com

Hank - Black Male - 7 Years

Meet Lanky Hank!  He is a 7 year old, 70 lb Lab mix, with the cutest white markings like a tux on his chest, 5 white toes and 3 white hairs on the end of his tail. He was rescued from the Bakersfield shelter where he came in as a stray. He is the sweetest most loyal boy ever. He can be allowed off leash and will always return, so it is likely someone dumped him. He bonds very quickly and gets along with all dogs and people, cats are unknown. He is still learning about toys and how fun playing can be. His developing play antics are hilarious, where he goes vertical and flies around in a circle when he plays with his foster sister. He is learning commands and leash manners, although he is pretty good on a leash already and rides nicely in the car. He learned the dog door in a day. Not a barker or a licker, usually only barks at the deer he sees through the fence. He definitely wants to be with his person and obtain as much love as possible, as I don’t think his love bucket was ever filled even half full. He is a very chill labbie guy who takes treats nicely. He has been left alone in the house for short periods of time without chewing anything. Hank would love a home with another easy going dog to live with. He would prefer a female but a nice male would be ok. He will make a wonderful companion to someone looking for a calm loving guy but with lots of spunk. Mia - Female Great Pyrenees Mix - 1 Year

Mia is a Great Pyrenees mix puppy. She is the sweetest, cuddly girl who loves playing with other dogs. She is housebroken and kennel trained but she also needs a very large yard or acreage to be happy. She will sleep in a crate and loves Kongs stuffed with peanut butter. Mia enjoys going for walks and rides in the car. She will be a happier girl with a dog friend or two in her household. Her people should be around more than not, since she is a puppy and will need a routine and guidance. As with all dogs, Mia will benefit greatly from additional training. Marleau - Black Male - 8 Years

Meet Marleau. He is an 8 year old black lab. He is lovable and loyal and wants to be with his person. He will follow you everywhere you go, always by your side but if you tell him to go lay down he will listen. Marleau will alert bark to let you know someone is outside. He is great with kids and likes cats. He sometimes sleeps with Niemi (cat). He has only been around his brother Burns, who recently passed. Since losing his brother, Marleau has become anxious. We are looking for a home where his people are home more than not. He loves chewing on bones. He doesn’t fetch a ball, but loves playing jump with a rope. He loves riding in the car. He listens well and will follow any command. He knows many words. Marleau will love to be a part of your family. Call or text Cathy 925.303.0509  1/17/24

Maisey - Black Female - 4 Months

Puppy

Maisey 01--9-25 (1).jpg

Maisey is a great mix of playful and gentle. At 4-months old, she spends her days playing chasing games, dog wrestling with her foster parents’ dog, and napping next her humans. You’ll love her extra soft puppy fur while she lays next to you. Maisey has a start on training and knows the command “sit.” and s working on housetraining. She’s confident when she’s with another dog, but very shy when she’s on her own in new places or with new humans. Her ideal forever humans would have another friendly dog, and will give her time to warm up and learn to be confident in new situations. Maisey has also shown a lot of respect for cats and her foster parents’ cats immediately trusted her. Maisey is a fun puppy, and like all puppies, she loves toys, and chewing and digging so she’ll need proper supervision. She has a soft and loving personality for some lucky future humans. For more information contact her foster parent at muttnut01@gmail.com. 1/19/24

Roger - Yellow Male - 2 Years

Roger was found as a stray and taken to the Yolo Co Shelter. He is the most loving dog you will ever meet. His tail goes into helicopter mode and he melts with joy if you give him even the slightest glance. He is a total lovebug that loves pets and cuddles and always wants to be by your side. Roger gets along well with other dogs. He has not shown any aggression, resource guarding, or overly rough play with any of the dogs or people he has interacted with under his foster’s care. He routinely plays with a group of 5 dogs from the neighborhood almost every day and gets along well with all of them. Roger is housebroken and can be left alone in the house for several hours without issues. He may occasionally relocate a shoe to the other side of the room when you’re around, but that’s about it. He hasn’t gotten into any real trouble at his foster’s home. He mostly just waits patiently for you to walk back through the door. Roger is still somewhat of a pup and will jump on you if he gets overly excited and has done some counter surfing if not kept in check. Roger is a young, high-energy dog that needs significant mental and physical exercise. He is not a dog that will be content with a leash walk as his only outlet. Roger currently spends at least 40 min to an hour every day running off leash in open space with his foster parents and their other young lab. He will need a home that can commit to giving him a positive outlet for his energy. Call or text Cathy 925.303.0509   1/13/25
